Museo de Arte Religioso Virgen de Carmen de Huancabamba

The Virgin de Carmen Museum of Religious Art in Huancabamba contains various religious and cultural items pertaining to the hugely popular Virgin del Carmen festival (and the virgin herself), celebrations for which are particularly vibrant in Huancabamba. You’ll find old photos of the festival, the oldest dating back to 1920, as well as examples of costumes worn during the festivities. The second floor houses a collection of old costumes (the oldest from 1890), necklaces, crowns, vases and other gold and silver artifacts.

Museo Mario Polía Meconi de Huancabamba

The Museo Mario Polia Meconi contains approximately 40 archaeological pieces, including artifacts from the local Huancapampa culture and ceramics from the Vicús, Mochica, Lambayeque and Chimú cultures. You’ll also find two slightly morbid Huancapampa mummies, one an adult and one a child.

Museo Casa de la Cultura Tambogrande

The Museo Casa de la Cultura Tambogrande, also known as the Museo Baltazar Jaime Martínez Compañón y Bujanda, is located in the Tambogrande district of Piura. The museum houses a small collection of ceramics from the Chimú, Mochica, Vicús and Lambayeque cultures, as well as paintings representing local customs and legends.
