How to Change a BIOS Chip on ABIT BP6

    • 1). Look at your BIOS chip for a small semi-circular groove on one side. This groove tells you how to orient the chip. You must orient a replacement chip with the groove facing in the same direction.

    • 2). Press your IC extraction tool's metal clips on the short edges of your ABIT BP6 BIOS chip, and push them together as much as possible, as if you were using a pair of tweezers.

    • 3). Pull the chip out, alternating pressure from one side to the other.

    • 4). Insert your new chip with the same orientation as the old DIP BIOS chip. Press it firmly until its pins slide inside the socket.
