    Set the Affinity of a Process

    • 1). Open the Windows XP Home Task Manager by pressing "Ctrl+Alt+Delete," then clicking "Task Manager."

    • 2). View the process list by clicking the "Processes" tab at the top of the Task Manager window.

    • 3). Set the processor affinity of a process by right-clicking it in the process list, and then clicking "Set Affinity." De-select or select any CPU check boxes by clicking them, and then click "OK."

    Set the Priority of a Process

    • 1). Open the Windows XP Home Task Manager by pressing "Ctrl+Alt+Delete," and then clicking "Task Manager."

    • 2). View the process list by clicking the "Processes" tab at the top of the Task Manager window.

    • 3). Set the priority of a process by right-clicking it in the process list, pointing to "Set Priority," and then clicking a priority. Choose "Realtime," "High," "Above Normal," "Normal," "Below Normal," or "Low."
