How to Design a Bedroom Game for Kids
Creating a New Kingdom
- 1). Set up a couple chairs to develop a frame in the bedroom. This could include three to four chairs to create posts, or two or three chairs in combination with the posts of a bed.
- 2). Using duct tape as a fastener, fasten the corners of one of the sheets to the edges of the frame you've established. This creates a roof to the new play area you're developing. Fasten the remainder of the sheets to the frame and the top sheet to create walls along the sides of this roof.
- 3). Now that you've built the actual structure of this new play area, cover the inside floor with pillows and a couple of toys. The toys can be stuffed animals, action figures, dolls or anything of the sort, as long as the child can assign them an identity while using their imagination.
- 4). Invite the kids in, taking on a character. The key to making this kind of make believe game work is making the kids believe that you're into it. Set the scene for them. Explain that they are kings and queens and that they and their loyal subjects are planning a party for their castle. If your kids are more inspired by more active things, explain that there are forces conspiring to attack their kingdom, and they need to come up with a defense strategy with their subjects.
