How to Replace a Three-Wire Power Cord With a Four-Wire Power Cord

- 1). Access the rear of the appliance requiring the cord swap. Remove the screws holding on the metal or plastic panel concealing the flying lead end of the power cable.
- 2). Unscrew the existing three-wire power cord, and remove the small metal grounding strap located below the other three wires.
- 3). Screw the green wire on the four-wire cord where the ground strap used to be. Screw in the other three wires, aligned with three wires on the other side of the buss bar inside the appliance.
- 4). Replace the panel that conceals the flying lead on the power cord and buss bar.
