Camp Nou Stadium

Barcelona's Camp Nou Stadium is one of Europe's footballing cathedrals. Home to La Liga's FC Barcelona, one of the world's top football teams, Camp Nou - often called Nou Camp by English speakers - has a capacity of 98772 and was built in 1957. It is located in the Les Corts district of Barcelona.

Standing outside Camp Nou, particularly looking from the direction of Avinguda Diagonal, it seems unthinkable that the stadium is Europe's biggest, and the world's fourteenth most capacious football stadium.

One of the most thrilling things about the stadium is not its height, but its depth. Once you walk out onto the stand, you realise the stadium plummets many levels into the earth, making it bigger than it would seem on the outside.

The stadium has an undeniable aura, having hosted European finals, World Cup matches (at Spain '82) and some unforgettable contests with eternal rivals Real Madrid.

La Liga and Champions League Games are played here between August and May. Phone the Barcelona FC ticket office on 902/189900 or look here online for Barcelona football tickets. Tickets are costly though, usually priced between 30 and 102 euros.

Alternatively, and a real crowd-pleaser for groups of kids, is a combined museum and stadium tour. Interactive exhibits and greatest goals video collections make the museum really enjoyable. The real deal, though, is a tour of the dressing rooms and and the legendary turf.
