Tip 1: Consume at a minimum four or five portions of vegetables and fruit every single day. Veggies and fruits are full of valuable fiber, antioxidants and vitamins. They additionally help to fill your tummy up quickly so that you feel full sooner. Also, they are lower in calories so it helps to keep your calorie count low.
Tip 2: Pay Attention to Your Portion Size - Do not presume that one pasta dish at a restaurant is equal to one serving of pasta. In actual fact, when it comes to pasta, one serving is just 1/2 cup. What you get in the majority of restaurants is actually about 3-6 servings! Just because your mother taught you to always clear your plate, that does not mean it is always the best thing to do as an adult. Be aware of proper portion control.
Tip 3: Take pictures of yourself before and after you lose weight. I know it may be hard to see yourself at the weight you are now. However, there really is no simpler way to illustrate your progress. And once you take those "after" pics, you're going to want to post them all over the 'net, (and perhaps your office, the 'fridge, etc).
Tip 4: Go with nutritious fresh foods. Whenever possible, buy fresh foods and stay away from processed and "fast" foods. Packaged and convenient foods are often higher in both fat and sodium content. If you want to lose weight, you don't need to eliminate the fast food and snack foods altogether, but you will need to cut WAY down.
Tip 5: Keep your goals a high priority. Needless to say, that popcorn may taste amazing with a bit of additional butter and salt but do you really need it? What is more important to you - eating popcorn that tastes a bit better or reaching your goals to lose weight fast? When you continue to justify cheating on your diet, you are the person who will find yourself being cheated in the end.
