Cancun Hotel Information

    Hotel Zone

    • The majority of hotels in Cancun can be found in what is called the Hotel Zone. This area runs along a 17-mile stretch of beach, bordered by the Caribbean on one side and the Nichupte Lagoon on the other. Because of this ideal location and the proximity to downtown Cancun, many vacationers find themselves drawn to the Hotel Zone.

    All-Inclusives

    • Cancun features numerous all-inclusive hotels and resorts. With an all-inclusive plan, you get meals, drinks, entertainment and non-motorized water sports for the price of the room rate. Most all-inclusive hotels and resorts in Cancun offer activities such as beach volleyball and other beach and pool games that you do not cost an additional fee. Some all-inclusive hotels and resorts offer children's programs or clubs, as well. A portion of these hotels specifically cater to families, business travelers, golfers, adults only or singles.

    Luxury

    • According to the Cancun Convention and Visitors Bureau, 75 percent of the hotels and resorts in Cancun have a five-star rating, the highest rating in Latin America. Most five-star hotels and resorts feature the all-inclusive plan as well as full spa services. Some of these luxury hotels offer the European plan, meaning that for the price of the room rate you get accommodations only --- no extra perks.

    Budget Accommodations

    • Not everyone can afford to stay in the lap of luxury. Cancun, however, offers plenty of budget-friendly hotels and resorts. Budget accommodations generally include room rate only, but most of the cheaper hotels and resorts do have direct beach access. If you don't mind having to make a short trip to the beach, even more affordable hotels can be found in the heart of downtown Cancun.

    Attractions

    • You will find many attractions and things to do in and around the Hotel Zone. If you want to get out of town, visit the fishing village of Playa del Carmen 42 miles from Cancun, Xcaret 44 miles away, the ancient ruins of Tulum 80 miles from Cancun or the famous Chichen Itza 126 miles away. Most resorts offer shuttle transportation to and from these attractions. Shuttle service may be an additional charge and not included in your room rate.
