The Numerous Health Benefits of Green Tea

Many people know that green tea is great for overall health and longevity.
Most, however, do not know exactly what that means or what health benefits are improved from the continued and frequent use of green tea as a beverage of choice.
That's exactly what this article is going to provide for you.
It makes sense why tea is so good for you to drink.
Let's look at the basic facts.
Green tea, actually most teas for that matter, are made from the Sinensis plant.
This plant is natural and has many great properties such as being filled with antioxidants.
Realizing that you are drinking something from a plant makes it somewhat like a cousin to the fruits and vegetables touted as so healthy.
It makes sense that drinking a plant has to have some health benefits.
To start, as I mentioned above, the tea plant has antioxidants.
This is one of the main reasons why it is so healthy to drink.
Antioxidants are well known for their cancer fighting effects on the body.
You see, our bodies cells are constantly under attack from oxidants.
These harmful free radicals destroy cells and cause health issues.
Antioxidants fight this effect.
Another great benefit of green tea is that it helps reduce stress and relaxes the body.
The reason for this is because of the amino acid L-Theanine.
Other benefits from drinking lots of teas include healthier gums, a reduced risk of having a stroke, having a healthier heart, and more brain power! People that drank lots of tea tended to have less signs of brain power loss as they aged! Studies showed that drinking a lot of this drink helped reduce or slow down the onset of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.
It can also boost your immune system and reduce your chances of catching the common cold! Lastly, a great benefit of this type of tea is the lack of caffeine.
This is a good substitute for other beverages that are filled with caffeine such as coffee, sodas, and other stronger and more fermented types of teas.
It doesn't take much to start replacing your sodas and other sugary drinks with tea.
Although most fast food chains don't carry tea, you shouldn't be eating there anyway! And even if they did have tea, it would most likely be over processed and filled with unhealthy and fattening sugar which completely destroys the health benefits it could have had.
