CPU and RAM
- The Central Processing Unit (CPU) of the Dell Vostro 1320 is an Intel Core 2 Duo, which is behind the current generation of Intel core processors (as of July 2011). The clock speed of the Vostro 1320 is 2.53 GHz, which is comparable to the speed of the following generation of Intel Core i processors. The computer comes standard with 1 GB of RAM, which is enough for some applications, but more RAM is necessary for many modern programs. Fortunately, the RAM of the Vostro 1320 can be upgraded.
- The Dell Vostro 1320 comes standard with an NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS graphics adapter. This graphics adapter was made specifically for use in laptop computers and features a small size and low power consumption. This means that it does not drastically shorten the battery life of the Vostro 1320. This graphics adapter is suitable for playing many computer games, but games that have more demanding graphics may need to run in low quality graphics mode.

- The Dell Vostro 1320 was made to be relatively compact, even for a laptop. It has a 13.3- inch screen and weighs 4.1 pounds. Even with its small size, the Vostro 1320 has many connection options. It contains four USB 2.0 ports for high speed data transfer using external hard drives and other peripherals. It also contains a VGA adapter for connecting an external monitor, headphone jack, four-pin firewire port, eight-in-one memory card reader and a wireless network receiver.
- Of the features included with the Dell Vostro 1320, one that is of particular interest to small business owners is added security. The Vostro 1320 includes a fingerprint scanner that can be programmed to accept one or a number of different fingerprints to access the computer. This eliminates the possibility of an unauthorized user guessing a password. In addition to the fingerprint scanner, the Vostro 1320 also has an encrypted hard drive and extra security software.
