The hotel has 380 beautifully furnished rooms, all carefully preserved in their original 1930s style. In its heyday in the 30's the hotel was a base for many famous artists including Song Qingling, Charlie Chaplin, George Bernard Shaw and Noel Coward.
There are numerous restaurants, bars, banquet halls and business facilities in the hotel, all serving the high class cuisine one would expect from a hotel of this standard.The Hotel's Jazz Bar was once a hangout for Shanghai sophisticates. The band still play fantastic tunes today, although the bar itself has become more of a tourist joint than a trendy hang out and the "Cover Charge" to get into the place to enjoy this experience is a bit of a rip off!
