Wang Zhaoguo, Vice Chairman of Ninth CPPCC National Committee
BEIJING, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Following is a biographical sketch of Wang Zhaoguo, who was elected vice chairman of the Ninth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) here today.
Wang, born in 1941, native of Fengrun County, Hebei Province, joined Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1965.
Graduated from Power Machinery Department of Harbin Polytechnical University as turbine engineering major, then worked at a motor vehicle plant in Hubei Province for 14 years, during which he served as technician, secretary of Communist Youth League(CYL) Committee, deputy director and Party Secretary.
Served 1982-84 as first secretary of Secretariat of CYL Central Committee and concurrently president of Central CYL School; director of General Office of CPC Central Committee 1984-85; member of secretariat of CPC Central Committee and concurrently director of General Office of CPC Central Committee 85-86;
In 1987-90, worked as acting governor and governor of Fujian Province, and deputy secretary of CPC Fujian Provincial Committee.
Served as director of Taiwan Affairs Office under State Council from 1990-96, director of Office for Taiwan Affairs under CPC Central Committee from 1991-96.
Since 1992, has headed United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee, and has been vice chairman of National Committee of Chinese Peopele's Consultative Conference and concurrently member of Party Group of CPPCC National Committee since 1993.
Was elected member of 12th through 15th CPC Central Committees and member of Standing Committee of Sixth National People's Congress.
