The Qingdao Port is composed of three parts-the Old Port Area, Huangdao Oil Port Area and Qianwan Port Area. It is located at the starting points of the Round-Jiaozhou-Bay Highway, Jinan-Qingdao Highway and Jinan-Qingdao railway, and is connected with the Euro-Asia Continental Bridge and inland areas in East, North, Northwest and Central South China. The Qingdao Port is equipped with automatic coal loading and unloading facilities, with an annual handling capacity of 23 million tons. It has the country’s largest oil wharf that is equipped with 600,000 cubic meters of oil tanks and can accommodate 300,000-dwt extra-large oil tankers. The port is also a major mineral ore loading and unloading port in north China. A new wharf capable of accommodating 200,000-250,000-dwt vessels was completed in 1998, with an annual handling capacity of 16 million tons of coal and mineral ores.
