In order to meet the needs of passengers, Singapore Airlines took the lead in installing around-the-globe satellite telephones on its airplanes in 1991, and the most advanced entertainment system "World of Silver Edge", in 1996. In addition, the Company also introduced the optional-function audio-visual entertainment system "WISEMEN" in 1998, which was installed in the first class and business class cabins. In 1999, Singapore Airlines adopted the latest R&D Dolby earphone technology, enabling passengers to enjoy cinema-like stereo sound effects. Singapore Airlines' various leading facilities all reflect its philosophy - service is supreme, the passenger is first.

Singapore Airline Company commenced its business in China in 1985. Over the past decade, the Company has invested actively in China, achieving encouraging results. Since 1996, the number of passengers travelling between China and Singapore has increased at a rate of 10% each year.
