Inner
Mongolia
If one were searching for heaven on earth,
surely that heaven would be found in the grasslands of Inner Mongolia.
On a summer's day, as far as the eye can see,
there stretches a carpet of bright green grass in which there grows a myriad of
wildflowers - blue, yellow, red, and white. The silence is broken only by the wind, and
the occasional calls of mating frogs. The air is an elixer - clean, fresh, and pure. When
I die, I want my ashes scattered on the grasslands at Huitengxile.
In complete contrast to the grasslands, but nonetheless
compelling, is Resonant Sand Gorge * endless sand, endless sun, and endless blue sky.
I wondered how many grains of sand there were and what the world was like
when those grains were being formed.
In experiencing these beautiful places, one is suddenly struck by the
insignificance of man and the immensity of nature * images permanently imprinted on the
mind. |
