Photographers Shoot Beijing Fifty top foreign photographers and 20 renowned Chinese photographers will come to Beijing for a one-week shoot May 16 to 23.Beijing Foreign Cultural Exchanges Service Center will take the 70 photographers around typical capital spots and encourage shots on the theme of Beijing -- history, culture, people. This is the first time Beijing has hosted such a grand photography exchange program. The best pictures taken will be included in a photo album and exhibition to honor the Beijing 2000 Sixth Summit Conference of Major Cities of the World. Most of the photographers have won prestigious international awards. Many are travel photographers or photojournalists, having published their own photography collections and held personal exhibitions. Three of the four American photographers are contributors to National Geographic. Gultekin Cizgen of Turkey has traveled 66 countries on photography expeditions, and has published eight personal photography work collections and six books on photographic theory. He postponed his personal photography shows in Canada and Japan in May to come to Beijing. French photographer Laurence Vidal has been to China several times, and has held five exhibitions on China in France. Her album Beijing Peking Opera was well received in France. Czech photographers Karol Benicky and son Matus Benicky went to China last year and held a series of activities to promote China in the Czech Republic. They return this month, and plan to publish an album China -- 2000. A Dutch couple 70-year-old Johanna De Ruig and 68-year-old Willem De Ruig are professionals of three-dimensional photography. Beijing is so beautiful. Its people are so friendly. We will never forget, said the couple of their visit to Beijing last year. They will shoot three-dimensional photos of Beijing.
