New China's first foreign film translated and shown in China was the Soviet film "An Ordinary Soldier", dubbed by Changchun Film Factory in 1949.

In September 1950, Shanghai Film Factory completes the cartoon film "Thank You, Little Cat". The film is written by Jin Jin and directed by Fang Ming.
